The Polar Acoustics and Simulation Technology Research Team mainly engages in the researches of underwater acoustic communications and detection, and their compatibility with special environments, sonar simulation technology, multistatic sonar and formation combat, the under ice physical characteristics in polar regions, and so on. Based on the technical foundations in underwater acoustic physics, underwater acoustic communications, sonar simulation, signal processing and so on, the team makes solid progresses in the researches on traditional areas. The team emphasizes the study of acoustic characteristics in the special environment of polar regions, and the related signal processing and equipment development. The team combines the fundamental acoustic physics research with engineering applications, the virtual reality simulation with equipment development effectively, to realize the mutual development of traditional technology and the emerging polar technology. The team has undertaken more than 20 projects, including the projects from the Key Program of National Natural Science Foundation of China, the basic research of national defense technology, Fok Ying Tung Education Foundation, naval pre-research, general armament department pre-research, National Marine public welfare industry special research projects, etc. The team has won 4 science and technology awards in provincial and ministerial level; invented more than 30 patents; published more than 200 papers and 3 books. The team attaches great importance to international exchanges and cooperation, carrying out joint training of doctoral and master’s students with a number of internationally renowned colleges and universities annually. Currently, the team has 7 full-time faculty members, including 3 professors, 2 associate professors and 2 lecturers.
